The 2024 Paris Paralympics, scheduled to begin on August 28, 2024, will showcase the hard work and determination of Indonesian Paralympians. One of the key elements being finalized for the Indonesian contingent is the design of the costumes. Didit Hediprasetyo designed the costumes for the 2024 Paris Olympics, but this time, the responsibility has been given to Didiet Maulana of IKAT Indonesia by Didiet Maulana. The costumes are inspired by the concept of “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity), which is the foundation of these designs. In collaboration with Mills, Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora), and the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia (NPC), Didiet Maulana has presented a collection including jackets, jerseys, and track pants. The design not only focuses on aesthetics but also embodies the values of unity and diversity, which are important to Indonesia.

The “Sandya Niskala” design series incorporates traditional ikat weaving, representing the diversity of Indonesian culture. The design also features geometric patterns inspired by Indonesia’s identity as an archipelago nation. Motifs representing the struggle and optimism of the athletes in competition are also included, as well as inspiration from the national emblem of Indonesia, the Garuda Pancasila. The colors used in the design carry deep meaning, with red symbolizing courage, white symbolizing purity, gold symbolizing grandeur, and touches of gray symbolizing responsibility.

To celebrate the launch of the collection, a photo session was held with Indonesian Paralympians who will be competing in the 2024 Paris Paralympics. The session aimed to celebrate the spirit and dedication of the athletes representing Indonesia. Didiet hopes that the collection will inspire and empower the athletes as they compete, embodying a sense of unity and sportsmanship.

The costumes for the 2024 Paris Olympics were previously designed by Didit Hediprasetyo, who drew inspiration from the national song “Berkibarlah Benderaku” (Fly My Flag). These costumes featured the red and white colors of the Indonesian flag and the Garuda Pancasila emblem, representing national pride and unity. Both Didiet Maulana and Didit Hediprasetyo have made significant contributions to designing costumes that are functional and meaningful, carrying messages of pride and unity for Indonesia on the international stage.
