President Prabowo Subianto has underlined his dedication to reforming Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises by discontinuing the practice of giving bonuses, or tantiem, to SOE commissioners. Speaking at the Apkasi Otonomi Expo 2025 at ICE BSD in Tangerang, Prabowo highlighted the mismanagement and dispersion of SOE assets over the years. With the consolidation of these assets under Danantara, Indonesia has solidified its global finance position, ranking fifth in sovereign funds worldwide. Despite this achievement, Prabowo criticized the awarding of bonuses to SOE commissioners, especially during periods of company losses, deeming it unjust. Emphasizing the importance of eliminating these bonuses as part of a broader reform plan to uphold integrity and professionalism within state-owned entities, Prabowo made it clear that dissenters of these reforms are unwelcome, as there are passionate young individuals eager to assume responsibility.
