The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program has been found to significantly boost children’s concentration levels, leading to improved learning motivation among students. Research conducted in Aceh revealed that students who received Free Nutritious Meals showed enhanced concentration, supporting better educational outcomes and increasing children’s motivation to learn. Another study by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) showed similar results, with the MBG program improving learning focus and cognitive performance in areas like Bogor and Papua, especially for students who skipped breakfast. A case study at State Vocational School 6 (SMK Negeri 6) in Medan also indicated that MBG greatly enhanced attendance motivation and classroom concentration. Concentration, as explained by Ikeu Tanziha, is vital for attention, stimulus processing, and cognitive function in the developing brain of children. Factors such as learning motivation, nutritional intake, psychological well-being, and physiological conditions like sleep quality and environmental factors influence a child’s ability to concentrate. Ikeu emphasized the importance of key nutrients like protein, iron, and omega-3 for brain development and cognitive function, particularly memory. The MBG Program aims to address children’s nutritional needs for physical growth, cognitive potential, and intelligence. Despite challenges like unhealthy eating habits and limited access to nutritious foods in certain regions, Ikeu stressed the importance of supporting the successful implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program for lasting benefits to future generations and society as a whole.
