The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is taking steps to promote local employment by recruiting workers from low-income communities for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG). Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the National Nutrition Agency, shared that at least 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will come from underprivileged households, following the President’s directive to generate employment through the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions. These units involve 93,572 local community volunteers and have already reached 7,444,238 beneficiaries nationwide. The breakdown of beneficiaries includes various categories such as early childhood education, elementary and high school students, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and more. To further accelerate the program, BGN plans to launch an additional 2,401 SPPG units within the next 10 days, bringing the total operational units to 4,788 and serving an estimated 15 million beneficiaries nationwide.
