French President Emmanuel Macron made a visit to Indonesia, underscoring the strong and meaningful partnership between the two countries. Macron emphasized that the friendship between Indonesia and France is not just symbolic but a genuine and robust collaboration. The visit included a warm reception at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, where President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Macron.
Macron expressed gratitude for the hospitality and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. Diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France have been maintained for 75 years, with significant advancements in recent years.
Acknowledging Indonesia’s role in maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, Macron commended progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda. Cultural exchange was also a focal point of Macron’s visit, with a cultural agreement set to be signed at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbol of the growing friendship between the two nations.
